Digital Signal Processing Using MATLAB 3th third edition Text Only Vinay KVinay K Ingle Ingle Books

I'm an engineer taking a graduate course in DSP using Digital Signal Processing Priciples, Algorithms, and Applications as the textbook. I find that working with concrete MATLAB examples in this companion book very helpful. The only complaint is the material is a bit dated, written for MATLAB 5 instead of MATLAB 2013 so some of the functions used in this book, all of them are available on the Mathworks website, have been replaced with built-in MATLAB functions which offer more features and superior performance.

Digital Signal Processing Using MATLAB 3th third edition Text Only Vinay KVinay K Ingle Ingle Books Reviews

This book does exactly what it purports to do - it teaches the reader how to perform signal processing tasks using Matlab. It starts out with signals and systems and moves on to the DTFT, the Z Transform, the DFT, digital filter structures including both IIR and FIR design, and finally covers some advanced topics in adaptive signal processing and communications. It even contains full-blown projects using Matlab on adaptive channel equalization, binary spread spectrum communications, and system identification. The reader should use another text such as Oppenheim's "Discrete Time Signal Processing" to get the theory, and come to this book on how to implement that theory in Matlab. The one drawback is that the book is older, so it is using Matlab 5. Also, another reviewer mentioned that much of the book is inaccessible to users who do not have the rather expensive signal processing toolkit at their disposal. Fortunately, thanks to the open source movement, this last problem has been solved. Octave, now on SourceForge, an open source code repository, has many of the matlab functions available for free that you need to do signal processing.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this book to signal processing students and professionals who wish to incorporate Matlab into their work.
DSP books can't get any better than this. The material is well outlined. There is sufficient coverage of the theory and how to implement it on Matlab.
A nice introduction to many DSP concepts, even if you do not use Matlab. I found the discussions of Z-transforms and LTI systems particularly helpful. If you are familiar with Matlab, you get the added bonus of example algorithms.
The only way to really understand DSP is having a book like this at hand. It's plenty of clear explanations of almost every topic in Digital Signal Processing.
great dsl and lab book. code works!
I'm 6 weeks into a graduate course on DSP with this book. This is not a good intro to DSP book. It is a book focused on some previous knowledge of DSP and progressing on to use MATLAB to evaluate the subject. The problem is that the MATLAB examples are good, but theory examples are not varied enough and do not line up well with the homework problems, i.e. you will often be very hard pressed to apply the examples to the homework.
If you want a really good book to understand DSP using Matlab , there is no other book that even comes close to this. Lucidly written, with plenty of examples, this book brings you the utter joy of learning DSP by using it.
It is really fortunate that DSP has such a good stream of books form the likes of Richard Lyons to the venerable Oppenheim to the practical Proakis.
This is the one book that has really earned its price.
